About Us

Hello!

We are Krissy & Danny, the faces behind Mellows Photography.

Our own story began in 2011 when Krissy was just 19 and Danny 21 - we initially connected over music, nature, taking photos and the same desire to travel and experience as much of the world as possible.

After 11 years together, we finally married on Scotland's West Coast having a humanist ceremony on the beach with our closest people and a simple but gorgeous celebration afterwards - we very much did it our way.

We now live near Westport in Co. Mayo but travel all over Ireland and worldwide covering weddings - we love visiting new places!!

We bonded over photography when we first met and it has been our passion ever since! Over the years we've covered hundreds of weddings together and feel incredibly fortunate to do this as a job. We truly love what we do and the fact that we get to meet amazing people from all different backgrounds and be a part of their special days’ is such a privilege to us.

To give you a peek into our lives, our ideal day would be heading out to a picturesque spot with our golden retriever Dusk. We’d either be hiking or swimming and snapping away with our cameras. The day would finish off with scrumptious homemade food straight from our vegetable garden, followed by a good film; we really appreciate and value all the small joys in life!

A few facts about us

We love to travel and visit new places; we spent 2 & 1/2 years travelling and living in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, New Zealand, Australia, Bali & India.

We toured the whole of Vietnam on a motorbike. Starting in Ho Chi Minh, going through the mountains and along the coast to Hanoi.

We love being outside, walking, swimming - nature is our happy place.

We have been together since Krissy was 19 and Danny 21.

We are ocean lovers and had our own sailboat for a time, which we proudly restored!

Krissy loves recreating favourite dishes we’ve discovered along the way while visiting other countries.

Danny is an artist too, he paints oil on canvas, taking inspiration off his late Grandad who mainly studied landscapes.

We adore dogs! We love all life, but dogs have a special place in our hearts even more so since getting our golden retriever Dusk joining our little family.

We recently bought a cottage on the West Coast of Ireland which we’re slowly renovating.

We completed an entire circuit of Australia, living in a van. It took the best part of a year to do.

We are huge nerds for films and tv shows. Some stand out ones are Game of Thrones, Interstellar, LOTR and anything David Attenborough or Brian Cox.

We converted a VW Crafter van which we spent a year travelling around the UK.

We love music of all kinds (Danny plays piano & guitar but dabbles in other instruments!)

Krissy reads books like they're out of fashion and mainly loves the fantasy fiction genre! Robin Hobb is an absolute fave.

We love animals! Especially elephants and dolphins (both of which we've been very lucky to have close encounters with in their natural environment)!

A dream of ours is to eventually sail across the Atlantic Ocean and circumnavigate the globe at some point in our lifetime.

“I lived and studied in Cornwall, where I explored the art of both film and digital photography while blending my love for the sea and nature. Photography has always fascinated me and I truly appreciate it as an art form. As a child I spent hours and hours flipping through photos and albums filled with my grandparents' travel photos, dreaming of embarking on similar adventures and capturing images like theirs in incredible locations. It feels surreal to have turned that dream into reality and I am immensely grateful to my Grandad for encouraging my creativity by letting me experiment with his film cameras growing up.”

- Krissy

“I originally studied music which took me to university but photography has always been a constant in my life, an ever evolving passion for as long as I can remember. When I first met Krissy we bonded over our love for photography and it’s been an awesome journey we’ve shared together since.

My grandad also was an amazing artist, I always found it mind blowing growing up how he could create beautiful oil paintings with such depth and perspective; I think this is where my eye for getting good shots originated.”
